O s p r e y
   on Penobscot Bay
44 Parks Lane, Cape Jellison, Maine

Pristine and Private Setting

Our home is perched at the top of a long sloping lawn going down to the water. The property is bounded by woods and streams on both sides.

As you walk down the lawn, cross the wooden footbridge over the stream and enter a pine grove on a bluff overlooking Penobscot Bay.

As you face the prevailing southwest breezes you can see down the bay and its islands. Now go back across the bridge and continue down to the beach.

Your Own Beach

Our beach is typical of the area. Stones and coarser sand brought up the bay cover the area.

You can walk for half a mile in either direction (beachcombing is great). At low tide, get mussels without getting wet. Watch for seals and the Ospreys.

Secluded Home

The house is an expanded cape style home with four bedrooms, kitchen and dining area and two full baths. A washer/dryer is included.

The kitchen contains a gas stove and microwave oven. The living room extends the full width of the house and faces the ocean, south down the bay.

A large deck off the living room catches the breeze and the sun and is perfect for morning coffee or all day sunning..

Master Bedroom

There are two small bedrooms and a large master bedroom upstairs. There is a large bedroom downstairs with a queen size bed and a twin bed.

Located off Route 1 between Searsport and Bucksport, we are 45 minutes to Ellsworth, Castine and Blue Hill.

Bar Harbor is about an hour. Bangor is 55 minutes away. See Belfast (30 min.) on your way to Camden (50 min.). The ferry at Lincolnville to Isleboro is 40 minutes (between Belfast and camden).

Boating and Swimming

On the Cape, about a half-mile away is Stockton Springs Harbor, the most protected harbor on Penobscot bay.

You can drop your trailered boat in from the excellent concrete ramp. Moorings are not available and there are no services.

A sandy swimming beach is located about 5 miles north on rt. 1 (Sandy Point, Stockton Springs).

Charter boat opportunities abound in Camden, Belfast and Castine-call first.

About a mile or two after Searsport, and past the big Irving gas station you will see "Just Barb's" Restaurant on right. The right in front of Barb's takes you into Stockton Springs

Go through town and make a right after the post office. After the train tracks, bear right at the fork and continue 2.3 miles until you see a split rail fence on the right and a street light on your left.

You will see our bright yellow "Monahon" sign on the tree at the top of our driveway, just after that fence. Make a right onto Park Lane. Pass our neighbor Mrs. Parks, on the left and go to the end.
